While politics takes center stage in
America at this time, a false sense of
security in the nature of politics is
emerging among her people. Whether
people of a society believe the free
system with its pomp and circumstance
to be workable or not, the two party
political system is the best
governmental system ever devised by
mankind and actually mirrors the
biological nature of human beings at
their core.
Today, American’s political fervor is
usually motivated by individual taste and
personal history. Now more than any
other time in history, collective morality
has become a device of the past.
Collective morality and community had
more relevance in times of small
associated cultures, villages,
townships, and other appropriately sized
anthropologic divisions of humankind.
In recent history, people are
approaching a global community of epic
proportions. A new definition of collective
morality is needed so the people of a
country can agree on a direction en
mass.
The global human race is one
embodiment that encompasses
numerous territories, cultures, faith,
values, and mores. Wayward divisions
of people and territories will prove to be
costly in the future and people will need
to form a collective and open approach
to the world as a whole. But how can
one develop an approach for everyone
that takes these numerous factions into
account that leads to all people’s
wholesome growth and
accomplishment? It is a daunting task
to be sure.
While many Americans would like to
assign a collective value system to the
human race based on one geographic
locale called the United States, the
approach is naïve. Management of
numerous societal agendas without
respect for the values of the whole
human race is not a workable solution.
The problem is that people live in a
world where righteousness and justice
is defined territorially.
It should be noted here that the United
States of America is still holding the
most progressive position on these
issues. To try to affect change for
people less fortunate is a worthy cause
in and of itself. Many other factions such
as the United Nations lag behind in their
“live and let live” position. It is a
backwards approach to a global
problem that is not being addressed
correctly in that forum.
When envisioning a global village such
as the one inhabitated by the human
race, it is true that a “live and let live”
does seem appropriate on a personal
level for each individual. But in order to
address the massive global concerns
such as starvation and AIDS in Africa,
turmoil in the Middle East, burgeoning
economies, depressed economies,
global trade, and the interdependence of
countries and nations, it is irresponsible
to take that position. This will prove to
be true from a historical prospective
when all is said and done.
While many wish to assign the United
States as leader in this arena, it is
necessary to include the opinions and
collective bargaining of many nations.
While is cannot be stressed highly
enough that many approaches will fail
and many will follow, it is a Universal
Truth that justice will prevail to those
who are aligned with high values.
The solution to many of these daunting
societal issues is found in collective
morality. The original, two party, political
system was genetically determined to
be a mother and a father. As children
grow and develop, they associate their
morality based on their family, school,
peers, and eventually career and
community life. Today’s breakdown of
the family has caused enormous
damage to human beings and their
sense of personal and collective
morality.
Many children are raising themselves in
conjunction with the media and they are
left with a hollow sense of belonging. It
promotes a value system that dictates
that the only person who will take care of
an individual, the only place they belong,
and the only future they will ever have is
based on themselves. This leads to a
point of view that says “what is good for
me is good for everyone in the world”.
When this occurs en mass, it leads to
chaos. When everyone selfishly pursues
their solitary goals and life direction, the
result will be further societal breakdown.
To bolster healthy collective morality,
children and youth must have a secure
sense of belonging from a very early
age. This process begins with the
foundation of home life. Governments of
the world should place a very high value
on the sacredness of marriage, family
life, and a strong school system.
Today, American society has a high
degree of single parent households.
The economic reality is that these
parents are often absent. Many schools
are competitive and there is a danger of
physical violence. Peers are sarcastic.
Teachers are pressured to support
more students. Children do not have
parental supervision. This is a
dangerous combination that
undermines society. Children and
adolescents of the world are crying out
for a sense of belonging.
It cannot be stressed highly enough
that the media is very much to blame
for the breakdown of morality in human
life. Often the most base and exotic
values are shown to be mainstream
and this is incorrect. The media has
been known to approach entertainment
in the form of films, television, music
and electronic games from the point of
view that whatever makes the most
money is right for the most people.
This further exacerbates the problem.
Many people hide behind the first
amendment right to free speech to do
this. But fundamentally, it is founded in
a selfish desire to compete, build
personal wealth, ratings and notoriety.
These people do not understand the
power of collective morality or they
would be the promoting the kinds of
material that create a better world.
The world can be a beautiful weaving of
people and cultures as much as it can
be a denigrating expose of hidden
agendas. So, if children emerge in an
environment where they feel as if they
belong, as opposed to being fearful
and alone, they will move into the world
with a sense that they can accomplish
their goals and contribute to their
community and world.
Later in life, collective morality is found
in the workplace and local community.
These areas build a sense that the
individual is an important part of a
larger whole. Each person is uniquely
qualified to contribute in their
employment and there is great strength
in numbers. When a group has an
agenda of beneficence and
brotherhood, it is an extremely strong
point of view that filters out to the world
at large. When business executives
have this in mind, they are able to
pursue higher ideals and express the
generosity that benefits everyone.
The collective morality paradigm is the
same whether in one’s family,
community, career, nation, or on a
global scale as well. It is a fact of
human nature and one of the keys to
ending bitter strife and creating a
peaceful world.
Collective morality is developed:
1. In a secure home life where people
feel as if they belong and are
valued.
2. In a strong school system where
children are safe, listen to each
other, are respectfully of one
another, value learning, exchange
ideas, and form units of common
interest with a healthy sense of
competition and fair play. Youth
should be required to participate in
community service to those in need
that will give them a sense that their
participation does make a
difference in the world.
3. In job opportunities in which people
can participate in a healthy work
environment where people’s
opinions are heard and they feel as
if they are an important part of
moving a product or service into the
community and world.
4. In participation in a two party political
system (as in the United States of
America) where people’s ideals are
aligned in forming a governmental
system that values freedom and
creates laws and guidelines where
the majority of the people will be
heard.
5. In communities and under
governments where the laws of
supply and demand are fairly
adhered to in business in order to
propel economies forward and
provide for the needs of all people.
This foundation ripples out to
support other countries, cultures,
and peoples of the world en mass.
Collective morality beliefs are:
1. I am an important person to my
family, community, society and
culture (I belong).
2. I have a right to be heard (My
contribution is valuable).
3. I have a right to freely contribute to
group goals and ideals based on
my skills and accomplishments (I
have something to offer. I am
secure in myself).
4. I provide a fair playing ground for
those I associate with (I believe in
justice).
These are a few rudimentary individual
beliefs and practices that result in
healthy societies. When one or more of
these items breaks down so does the
society. The United States is stepping
up to build a better world through the
fostering of the foundation that they
have developed in history but it is not
well understood in countries that have
been oppressed for centuries. But
collective morality is a possibility and a
future promise for the many who reside
on the earth plane for many centuries to
come.
This is a pivotal point in history and
mankind should do well adjust their
attitudes and put their best to the
forefront to accumulate the energy to
build up and not tear down for all
people, societies, nations and cultures
of the world.
