MYTH: Might-T-Tykes
Children, more or less thrust into
adulthood through high profile parents,
are limited in their ability to develop into
fully actualized, human beings.  They
develop into a sort of thwarted, childish,
adult due to their rationale of
“specialness”.  When they are put into the
rudimentary world in a very harsh way,
they either survive the shock and grow to
greater realization or they remain lost
souls.
Might-T-Tykes are born into affluence
and notoriety.  These children are
victims of circumstance to be sure.  They
are not associated with any identity of
their own at any point in their lives.  It is a
tragic burden to bear and one that few
people understand.

While some parents see their children
as
Might-T-Tykes (super children who
will take over their position of authority
and lead the world) they often grow into
adults who are ill-equipped to do so.
Usually in adolescence,
Might-T-Tykes
are insecure, friendless, and alone.
They struggle to become well-rounded
human beings in their own right.  Due to
lack of real world experience from being
cocooned in parental notoriety, they find
it tremendously difficult to do so.

Celebrity casts a very long shadow and
these children are forever born into a
dark place behind someone else’s
accomplishments.  They cannot live up
to the parent nor can they make their
own mark without comparison.

While the
Might-T-Tykes’ psyche is
developing, they are repeatedly told of
their “specialness”, uniqueness,
perfection and superiority over others.
The child does not feel this way and they
are not having that kind of life
experience.  The child becomes deeply
conflicted because their internal and
external “reality show” is out of balance.

During adolescence,
Might-T-Tykes  can
become trapped in crisis of ego
development leading to peer pressure
and dangerous lifestyle choices
involving drugs and alcohol.  Survival
depends on the
Might-T-Tykes’ ability to
find their own identity away from their
parent’s celebrity and to navigate their
own life course.  The best scenario is for
them to avoid a similar line of work and
to seek status and development in their
own area of life.

However in show business, children
almost always want to “get a leg up” by
using their parent’s contacts to get into
the business.  When they cannot live up
to the promise of reciprocal parental
favors, stratospheric talent, or bringing
anything fresh and new to the business,
they are usually painfully destroyed and
discarded.

Characters:
Characters are children of:
1. Celebrities
2.  Prodigies
3.  Powerful people
4.  The wealthy and well connected
5.  All of those who have a very public
persona

Conflicts:
Conflicts are associated with the child’s
internal and external reality show being
out of balance.  Many will undergo years
of therapy trying to figure out why their
public image and private life is so
conflicted.

The easiest answer for this is because
a public persona is a false image.  For
the most part, people who associate
with
Might-T-Tykes are doing so to gain
money, power and notoriety for
themselves.  The “cling ons” have very
little interest in the
Might-T-Tyke short of
their celebrity parent although the young
adult may think that they do.
Resolution:
Resolution is a soul journey.  On the
one hand, these children grow into
adulthood with a conflicted psyche.  On
the other hand, these children have
one of the most unique opportunities
on the planet at this time to lose their
ego identity and develop high
consciousness.

Once the young adult determines that
their ego conflict is false and they are
able to discard it and embrace higher
consciousness, they will have a deep
sense of the self and their place in the
world.  This does not come easily for
anyone.  (It most often occurs through
Bolts Out of the Blue and Trials by Fire
or other life shocks that cause people
to seek a different path.)  But
Mighty-
Tykes
’ parents are leading to their
children’s downfall by helping them get
into the same business in which they
have notoriety.

Might-T-Tykes have a unique
opportunity to lead the world but not in
the way their parents envision it.  They
have an exceptional point of view
having witnessed the pitfalls of
celebrity.  They can reach out to people
on all levels of society to bridge gaps
between the worlds with their unique
knowledge and lack of ego.  Once their
ego conflict has been resolved,
Might-T-
Tykes
have so much to offer the world
through their example.  At that point,
they have truly earned their title
“Might-T-
Tykes”.

Storylines:
1. A high profile lawyer tries to get his
son to enter the business with him as
a partner.  But the young man is more
inclined to follow music and the arts.  A
furious ego battle ensues and the
young man leaves home.  The lawyer
realizes that he has driven his son
away and allows him to be as he
must.  Later in life, the son joins the
firm as a more fully-actualized human
being.  He knows when to embrace a
process and when to step away.  He
has matured as his own human being
and practices entertainment law as a
partner in the firm.  The men are
successful beyond his father’s wildest
dreams.

2. An author wishes her autistic son to
learn to read.  The child does not want
to communicate that way.  He wants to
associate with the world in a tactile way
in a form of communication that is not
clearly understood.  When a researcher
begins to document the child’s
process scientifically, the author
realizes the importance of individual
styles of communication.  She sees the
beauty of stepping aside and allowing
other people’s life journey to unfold as
it must.

3.  A strikingly-beautiful Indian girl is set
to become a cultural “goddess” but the
girl does not want it.  The young girl
loves soccer.  She is a talented soccer
player and is an integral member of her
team much to her parent’s chagrin.
Her parent’s cultural belief that she is a
goddess creates a warring conflict.
The girl is forced to follow her parent’s
wishes and give up soccer.  When her
time as a goddess has concluded, she
leaves her family in India and moves to
America to pursue a college education.

4. A father and daughter are very much
in sync on the open ocean waters.
They both have a dream of pursuing
the America’s Cup Yacht Race.  When
the America’s Cup comes around, the
daughter is diminished in importance
due to her sex and she is not allowed
to compete as a Captain.  This leads to
a warring conflict between father and
daughter.  The daughter leaves the
racing dream to her father to pursue.
She takes a job by the ocean and does
some soul searching about her own
life journey.  She begins to help
children or all ages to realize their
dreams of sailing.
