Predictions: 1st Quarter 2004 Posted 12/23/03
Financial Markets
The world economy comes precariously
close to the brink when Japan's
economic woes filter into the world
market. Japan will be hard hit by an
internal crisis regarding the value of the
Yen followed by domestic turmoil when
the economy turns sour.
Unemployment will rise as it never has
before in Japan and the country will look
to the West for strategies to repair it's
broken economic policy
Mexico continues to struggle
economically but is in a better position
to weather global economic storms due
to prioritization in their domestic
policies. Yes, they have low prioritization
of domestic policy compared with US
standards but the Mexican government
realizes and prioritizes properly based
on their resources. Their stance is
something the US should take note of.
Foreign economies are stressed
enormously by trade embargoes that
are placed to stimulate domestic US
economy to pay for the war. This policy
begins to have repercussions
domestically as well.
Globally
Earthquakes rock Iran, Turkey and the
Balkan Islands. Foremost areas hit will
be rural until a massive quake his Los
Alamos (Los Lomita) area. Reinventing
disaster plans through drills and
preparedness only makes the situation
worse as it gives a false sense of
security. Those living in the Los
Angeles basin should move to higher
ground and avoid the disaster whether
now in this quarter or later. Correct
9/29/04 6.0 Earthquake hits the Parkville
area of California with numerous
aftershocks.
Borders and Boundaries
Geographic skirmishes continue as
land and resources are sought and
taken. Natural resources such as oil
and gas are still plentiful but now would
be the appropriate time to begin serious
development of solar and electric cars
as well as wind turbine generators.
Correct 5/29/04 CNN Reports that
hybrid cars are the rage in Los Angeles,
CA and they cannot keep them in stock.
People are turning to ethanol fuels.
Correct 10/07/04 Live Presidential
Debates on FOX News: President Bush
stresses the importance of reducing
dependence on foreign oil and outlines
his energy plan.
The earth has phenomenal power to
heal itself and as the polar ice caps
melt, the planet provides new land in
some areas and fewer miles of land in
others. The planet has grandiose
episodes and subtle ones. Even the
extinction of some species has natural
selection and positive flow outside of
mankind's awareness. Peace and quiet
will become more of a commodity than
species of frogs and turtles.
USA Homeland Security
Intelligence keeps up with the rising
onslaught of terrorist activities by
keeping security tight at airports. Local
authorities should be watchful of
transportation avenues such as
bridges and water passages.
Canadian borders should be watched
more carefully for breeches of security.
Correct 4/07/04 FOX News reports that
the Canadian borders are under
scrutiny. A 9/11 suspect is arrested at
the border.
Correct 10/08/04 An Associated press
article reports that the Federal
Government opened a base in
Northeastern New York for tightening
surveillance along the US and Canada
borders to patrol waterways.
US Foreign Policy
The government foreign policy comes
under increased scrutiny as public
opinion weakens when fewer
Americans support the war effort in Iraq
as costs rise. Correct 4/11/04 MSNBC
reports Italy and Spain are considering
pulling their troops out of Iraq during
recent conflicts. Correct 6/25/04 USA
Today newspaper poll shows that 55%
of Americans no longer support the
war. This war will continue beyond this
quarter and for many years to come.
Entertainment
Digitally remastered classic films will
gain momentum as the fickle audience
tires of spectacular effects films and
sophomoric comedies. Films like Cold
Mountain will gain appeal as the
audience searches meaning and
direction in troubled times. Correct
Industry executives are shocked at the
public reaction to Mel Gibson's
Passion of Christ as people flock to the
theaters to see a religious film during
the summer of 2004.
Industry executives who step up
making high profile public stance will
be perceived to be displaying class
and integrity reminiscent of the golden
age of Hollywood. They will appear as
upstanding citizens for supporting the
common working man over constant
celebrity worship. They will appear to
be today's heroes in the public eye.
Medicine
Influenza was a major concern in the
winter months but many in the West
(United States) sought vaccinations to
slow the outbreak and this did have an
effect that kept some of the virus
outbreaks in check. The SARS
epidemic will settle down to a few
isolated cases in Asia but will reappear
in war torn countries lacking in hygienic
standards in hospitals. A case will
come from outside the country and
devastate thousands by the time it gets
under control.
